Assessing Someone’s Heart

I’ve had a few people ask me for this. It’s the list of questions I referenced in last Sunday’s sermon: Do You Focus on Outward Appearance or Inward Character? You can listen to that message at HillcrestAustin.org/Sermons. When making “people decisions,” these questions help us assess a person’s heart.

What drives them? What motivates them? What gets them out of bed and out the door?

How easily do they break promises and commitments?

Is their outlook on life generally positive or generally cynical?

Do they have a respect for other people?

How do they handle setbacks?

Do they know how to make the first things in life the first things or are their priorities upside down?

Do they learn from their mistakes or simply repeat their mistakes?
