Atheism's Flaw

“We need the direction of the standard [of the Law] because we are confused sinners. We need the forgiveness [of the cross] because we are guilty sinners. Atheism not only keeps the guilt, but it also keeps the confusion.”

--Douglas Wilson (here).

Er, I know I am a confused sinner. What I need help with is a)what the law is about this--given that reading the Bible tells me to do several different and contradictory things, including some nice ones like forgiving my enemies but also some astonishing ones like annihilating my enemies and etc., b)what sin is involved in being born, exactly c)why Jesus had to die in order to gain forgiveness for sins apparently committed against himself and c)why it is that you have the answer and are correct whilst everybody else who also claims to have the answer is wrong.
Answers to these questions would greatly alleviate both my sinning and my confusion

Thanks for the note, but you read way more into that brief quote--and into my motivation for posting it--than is really there. I was hoping the quote would be provocative enough that folks would want to follow the link I provided. It will take you to a series of exchanges between Christopher Hitchens and Douglas Wilson. The first is here. Find the second installment here and the third here.

Check out the online debate and tell me what you think. I think Hitchens flat misses the point over and over again.
