I'm glad christianaudio offered Wendell Berry's Hannah Coulter for free last month (you can still get it at their website for $14.99). I just completed it. It's told from the perspective of an older woman remembering marriage, parenting, and widowhood in the context of a post-WW2 farming community. I loved Berry's appreciation for detail, not just in the characters' physical appearance, but evem more in the characters'--well--characters. It's a story you wish younger adults would read so they don't miss out on time with the older people in their families, but it's probably a story only appreciated by middle-aged folks who know how dear that time really is.
